He’s back.
The first Minor event of 2013 — the FLW EverStart on Lake Okeechobee — brought a familiar face back to the Minors-Only ranking.
Trevor Fitzgerald, at one time the No. 1 Minor angler, finished the event, and in the process, he requalified for the ranking, redebuting in the No. 2 spot, ironically, after he finished second at Okeechobee.
Then there was Curt McGuire. He didn’t fish the event, but he did fish an event on Okechobee two years ago … that he didn’t do very well in. When it dropped off in the last week, his average skyrocketed 92 points (765.502 to 857.299), thus skyrocketing him from 30th to fifth. Not a bad way to start the new year.
Five spots behind McGuire saw another debut in the top 10, this one from Jason Smith, who finished 34th at Okeechobee.
Other notable moves include Kip Carter slipping to 19th, Stephen Johnston cracking the top 20 (in 20th) and Casey Martin climbing to 26th.
Check back Wednesday for an update on the College rankings after their Okeechobee event.
