And with that, the Bassmaster Classic field is set.
Chad Morgenthaler came from behind on the final day to claim the final spot in the championship, aka. the golden ticket, at the BASS Open Wild Card on Lake Okeechobee.
Technically, the event falls in the Minors category, which means we usually would write an update on the Minors-Only ranking. However, half the field was Major pros due to the chance at a Classic birth, so we’ll look at the standard Minors Ranking.
Even then, Morgenthaler doesn’t qualify, as he hasn’t fished enough Minor events.
Second-place finisher Jesse Tacoronte does, though, and he moved up 10 spots to 474th after finishing second. Meanwhile, Shaye Baker, who led the first two days of the tournament, also moved up after finishing third. He now sits in 194th. Like Baker, Keith Poche also climbed five spots. He now sits in 290th.
Derek Remitz stood pat in 20th after he finished seventh, Gary Clouse moved up to 298th, Arnie Lane is 202nd and rounding out the top-10 finishers, Drew Benton is 134th.
