Powroznik powers way to Toledo Bend victory

BSS_4780When it comes to consistency, Jacob Powroznik is up there with the best. Literally, he’s up there with the best, as he’s the No. 4-ranked angler in our Majors Ranking.

The only knock on him was that he’d never won a major event. Well, that knock is gone. After a near disastrous Day 3 at the Elite Series event at Toledo Bend, Powroznik rebounded with a new game plan that helped him take his first title.

Normally, a win would bump an angler up the ranking. But you might notice that Powroznik is still sitting in the same No. 4 spot he was in a week ago. He can thank the 2012 FLW Tour event at Beaver Lake for that. Powroznik finished eighth in that event, so with that tournament dropping off, he basically replaced an eighth with a first, which wasn’t enough to bump up his average above Aaron Martens, even with Martens’ slip at Toledo Bend.

That same Beaver Lake event was responsible for Mark Rose slipping three spots to eighth, while it had the opposite effect for Ramie Colson Jr., who jumped from 31st to 17th.

Then there is Mark Davis, who continues to climb thanks to his incredible streak of top-5 finishes. He’s now ranked 26th in the Majors Ranking.
