Hackney rides 31-lb Day 2 to victory

imageGreg Hackney was just looking to cut a check. Well, he cut a big one.

Heading into the FLW Tour event at Pickwick, Hackney said he simply wanted to make keep himself in contention to make the FLW Tour. But 45 minutes into his first day of practice, Hackney found the spot of a lifetime.

He used it to amass 22-4 Day 1, and still thinking of a check and the Cup, he crushed 31-6 on Day 2. The lead he amassed, plus the strong sacks the next two days, was enough for him to take home $100,000 check.

As usual, you lift the big check after a tournament and you climb the Majors Ranking. Hackney was no exception, climbing five spots to 20th.

Runner-up Michael Neal actually rose 10 spots to 18th – he has fewer tournaments, so each event has a larger impact. Meanwhile, third-place finisher Brent Ehrler climbed to No. 6. Fellow top-10 finishers Spencer Shuffield (now No. 19) and Robbie Dodson (now No. 23) both also climbed into the top 25 in the ranking.
