Saying Thanks

It’s been a little more than a month since we launched Bass Rankings, which means we have had little more than a month’s worth of pure joy.

We have loved the feedback and interaction with the users and anglers. We have loved improving and evolving the site. And most of all, we have loved providing this site for you all.

Which is why on this Thanksgiving, we wanted to say a heart-felt thank you.

Year in Review: PAA

We received some interesting feedback when we decided to include the PAA in our Majors World Ranking. Some adamantly opposed it, while others – particularly professional anglers – applauded the decision.

Regardless of your stance, one look at some of the names in our ranking and it’s clear that some serious talent from both other major tours fishes the PAA. Now, having looked back to see who were the movers and shakers on the 2011 BASS Elite Series and FLW Tour the last two weeks, it’s time to do the same for the PAA.

New One-Year Rankings

You asked for it, and again, we listened.

Since the release of our site, users, anglers and industry personnel have been blown away with the amount of information on our site. Yet the one thing that kept popping up was the want for a one-year world ranking to show who is the best lately. While it was possible to gather that information via our Custom Search, we wanted to make it easier for users to access that information. Hence, you will now find a one-year criteria world ranking for Majors.

Year in Review: Elite Series

There are still a few tournaments going on, but in the grand scheme of it all the 2011 season has officially come to a close.

So we wanted to look back on all that was the 2011 season. In this case, who were the pros that capitalized in 2011 and climbed our rankings, and who took steps back. We’ll start with the BASS Elite Series.

KVD Third and First

Think we’re crazy for having Kevin VanDam ranked No. 3? Trust us, the numbers don’t lie. In fact, we’ll prove it.

A poor start to 2010 is weighing him down in our standard two year-criteria Majors World Ranking. However, we recently updated our site to include a one-year criteria to show who is currently the hottest angler. Take a guess who has been the best over the last year. Yep, KVD.

New Trend Feature Shows Hot/Cold Streaks

Slumps and hot streaks – they define every athlete’s career.

Tournament anglers are no different. In fact, one could argue they are more prone to fluctuations in consistency as they not only have to deal with themselves but also things they can’t control, such as weather, fishing moving or the worst, fish coming unbuttoned.

Yet anglers can still get hot, ala Skeet Reese in the beginning of 2010 or Bryan Thrift throughout 2010. And now you can see who has caught fire – or gone cold – with our new trend feature.

Movers & Shakers: TTBC, EverStart Championship Fallout

What a weekend of tournament bass fishing!

Between Dan Morehead’s comeback at the EverStart Championship to the sudden-death fish-off at the PAA Toyota Texas Bass Championship, Sunday was no day of rest. It was a day of drama.

As for the World Rankings, there was more jostling than actual moving thanks to a limited number of anglers fishing. Though there were some noteworthy trends.
